Can be prepped to hollow metal locations for non-standard wall sizes G. Full range of casing options to match any elevation

What is the range of wall sizes covered by our 54A frame?
The 54A frame covers from 3 3/4″ to 5 1/2″.

What is the range of wall sizes covered by our 73A frame?
The 73A frame covers from 5 5/8″ to 7 3/8″.

What is the range of wall sizes covered by our 91A frame?
The 91A frame covers from 7 1/2″ to 9 1/8″.

Why do installers appreciate our adjustable frame?
Because the closure piece scissors in from the bottom making it simple to install as opposed to the time consuming precision alignment required by the competitors’ products.

What is the difference between a pre-hung unit and an over wall frame?
A pre-hung unit is an assembly of the “door side” of our adjustable frame with the door attached, threshold and smoke gasket in place ready to tilt up into the opening as a complete unit. The over wall frame is our adjustable with the door side and closure locked together with spring clips to keep them from separating during installation. It is ideal for “tapered” wall and rehab work where multiple wall sizes occur.

If a customer is using our frame with a steel entry door, we need to have special information. What is the easiest way to get this information?
Fill in the Steel Entry Prep Sheet which can be found in the Pre-fit Specification section of your Technical Manual.

Can the Timely frame be matched to a variety of different brands of steel doors?
Yes we can. We have great flexibility in changing the hinge, strike or deadbolt locations. We can easily adjust the width of a header to accommodate for either undersized or oversized non-beveled steel doors. Threshold details can be provided with either a full or partial notch. Special hybrid hinges can be provided to match the template pattern on our frame to a non-template pattern of the door. Of course, if the steel door has wood stiles, our standard hinge is sufficient.

Bi-Fold and Bi-Pass

If a customer wants to use our frame with a bi-fold door, which frame do we recommend?
Our standard frame without hinge or strike preps i.e. cased opening WITH STOP. This works perfectly for a bi-fold door because when the door is mounted behind the stop, the stop on the header conceals the 1/2″ track. The stop on the uprights conceals the gap and the result gives a recessed “picture frame” effect.

If a customer wants to use our frame for bi-pass doors, what must we recommend?
Our standard frame without hinge or strike preps i.e. cased opening NO STOP, must be ordered. The fascia track and hardware is secured to the underside of the header. The frame header must be ordered undersized to create an overlap. Example: A header for a 5-0 opening should be ordered 59″ or less.

Cased Openings

What is a cased opening?
A frame without embossing for hinges or strikes. It is used to finish an opening where no door is required.

What are the two types of cased opening frames we manufacture?
Cased opening WITH STOP and cased opening NO STOP. Cased opening No Stop will be provided as standard unless specified otherwise

When is a cased opening with stop used?
For bi-fold doors where the stop acts as a molding to conceal the track and the spaces at the walls.

Sometimes cafe doors or double acting doors are used in a no stop cased opening. What do we recommend?
Since flush mounted double acting hinges will be used, a TA-25 reinforcement bracket behind each hinge is required.

Can you emboss a no stop frame for a strike?
Yes, either a T-Strike or an ASA-Strike. We also provide three different pocket latch strike preps on No Stop frames.

Communicating Frames

What is a communicating door frame?
It is a door frame that accepts two doors, one on each rabbet, used in hotels so they can either separate two rooms from each other or connect two rooms to each other.

If a customer specifies a communicating frame with a 1 3/4″ rabbet on each side, does this present a problem with Timely?
No, this is the standard communicating frame Timely offers.

What is the smallest wall size a communicating frame can be made in using a 1 3/4″ both sides rabbet?
A 4 5/8″ wall (45).

How is our standard communicating frame manufactured?
Hinge/Hinge and Strike/Strike

Can Timely manufacture a communicating frame as Hinge/Strike?
Yes, the customer must specify this is what he wants

Pocket Door Trim Kit

Does Timely provide a frame to be used with a pocket door?
No. Timely provides pocket door trim with casing. The pocket frame is provided by others.

What is the smallest wall size a pocket door frame can be ordered when using a 1 3/4″ or 1 3/8″ door?
A 4 1/2″ wall (4 1/2) not (45)

What is the single most important factor an installer must know to install a Timely Pocket Kit?
J Trim used at the header must be at least 1/2″ narrower than the door width for single swing, and 1″ for paired openings

Can Timely tell the customer what the rough opening is for a pocket trim kit?
No, the customer needs to get this information from where he is purchasing his cage.

Can Timely provide a pocket trim set with a door recess on the latch side?
Yes, specify “inverted stop” on the strike jamb. The header is 1” less than the door size instead of 1/2” as on a regular pocket trim jamb.
